PTC sites are quite simple, the key concept being profit-sharing. Basically PTC sites are advertising portals but instead of promoting the adverts that are purchased the PTC site cuts out the middle man and simply pays ordinary people to view them.
Then there are referral earnings. Most PTC sites have one level of referral earnings, that is to say, you will earn a percentage of everything that somebody who signs up through your link earns (but nothing that the people that they sign up earn etc). For most sites this is 50-100%.
Example (figures are typical of an average PTC site):
500 clicks costs an advertiser $12 (or $0.024 a click)
Each member who clicks an ad earns $0.01
Each referral that clicks on ad earns their upline (the person who's link they joined through) $0.0075
Therefore, if a member clicks an ad and is a referral of somebody they earn $0.01 and their upline earns $0.0075 bringing the total cost to the site to $0.0175
As mentioned above, the advertiser was paying $0.024 a click which means that the owner of the PTC site earns $0.0065 a click or $3.25 for 500.
So members earn money, advertisers get exposure and PTC site owners get a bit of both. Everybody wins!
